                                         Ladies Auxiliary Membership Eligibility

Membership in the Auxiliary VFW shall be limited to wives, widows, mothers, foster and stepmothers [who have performed the duties of parent], grandmothers, daughters, granddaughters, foster and stepdaughters [who attained that status prior to age sixteen (16) and for whom the duties of parent were performed], sisters and half sisters, foster and stepsisters [who attained that status prior to age sixteen (16) of persons who were or are eligible for membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States and not less than sixteen (16) years old.

Women eligible for membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States shall be eligible for dual membership in the Auxiliary.

                                                            Junior Girls Unit

Each Auxiliary needs to sponsor a Junior Girls Unit.

1- Purpose: To instill in the hearts of our youth, a firm belief in the principles of our Republic and reverence for the Flag of the United States; to develop character, cooperation, leadership, self-reliance and a willingness to assume responsibility; to assist the Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in their activities; to interest members of Junior Girls Units in the Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States and train them for future membership in the Auxiliary.

2- Eligibility: Membership in the Junior Girls Unit is open to girls from five (5) through sixteen (16) years of age who are daughters, foster daughters, stepdaughters, granddaughters, sisters, half sisters, foster sisters and stepsisters of members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. or of men and women eligible to membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

3- Two Junior Girls Unit College Scholaships are given annually. The awards are based on scholastic aptitude, conscientious interest in community, school and Junior Girls Unit activities. Information may be obtained from Auxiliary National Headquarters or the Department Junior Girls Units Chairman.

4- Hospital awards are available for volunteer services in V.A., other hospitals and nursing homes. The application for hospital awards must be filled out by the Auxiliary Junior Girls Unit Chairman in triplicate with verification of hours. She shall send three (3) copies to the Department Junior Girls Units Chairman for approval, who will forward one (1) copy to the Department Hospital Chairman, one (1) to National Secretary-Treasurer and retain one (1) copy for the department files. Application for Hospital Service Pins may be obtained from the Auxiliary National Headquarters or the Department Jr. Girls Units Chairman.

5- All Officers of the Unit having part in floor work should have a copy of the Rules, Regulations and Ritual, which may be purchased from the Auxiliary Supply Department.

6- Other information available: "Junior Girls Membership Brochure" and "College Scholarship Awards," which may be obtained from the Auxiliary National Headquarters or the Department Junior Girls Units Chairman.

Auxiliaries who do not have a unit should take credit under Youth Activities if they assist a Unit in any way.
